COURSE PURPOSE:
This course has been designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to use Caterpillar Electronic Technician to monitor, test, adjust, calibrate and troubleshoot Diagnostic Scan Tool Caterpillar Electronic Control Systems.

The course starts with Sensor interpretation and diagnosis, then Data Links, diagnosing and testing, ECMs and their inputs and outputs with relation to the 8 Steps of Troubleshooting. Then CAT ET program navigation and use with a practical component.

PRE – REQUISITES:
Participants should be actively involved in the maintenance and repair of Caterpillar equipment and should be familiar the use of a laptop computer and windows program.

How to configure microPod using Wireless Configuration Utility

1.Connect a PC or Laptop that has the wiTECH MicroPod 2 installed to the wiTECH Access Gateway in ports 3 or 4 (preferred) you may also connect to the wiTECH wireless.
* Note: If PC or Laptop is not on the wiTECH network you may encounter discovery issues of the tools and or wiTECH Diagnostic Antenna.

2.Connect the microPOD with a USB cable to your PC or Laptop, wait for the USB drivers to install
* Note: If PC being used does not have the wiTECH application installed you will need to install the wiTECH application
* Note: If drivers do not load when the USB cable is plugged in you will need to move the USB cable to another USB port on the PC, or you may need to try another PC

3.Download the Wireless Configuration Utility from  www.cnautotool.com,
* log in, browse to Manage Assets > Wireless Configuration

4.Select the link Click here to Download VCI Pod and microPOD Wireless Configuration Utility and save the configuration utility to your desktop

5.Select the Generate Config PIN button

6.The PIN generator will create a 2 to 4 digit number as shown below

7.Locate and Launch the file wiTECH_Wireless_Config_Utility_1.1  on your desktop  8-5

Note:  this file may have been saved to your Downloads folder

9.Enter your dealer code, and select OK

10.Enter the PIN number that was sent to your email address , and select OK

When the discovery screen for the tools opens you will need to make sure that you are seeing the microPOD that you are configuring

Note: If no tool is shown:

* Unplug the USB cable for the microPOD and plug into a different USB port
* Close the Configuration Utility and launch the utility again
* Try a different PC

microPOD Configuration steps

1.Select Auto Scanner Tool microPOD Configuration from the File menu in the upper left corner

2.Select the appropriate Country Code from the drop down menu

3.Enter the wiTECH wireless credentials
* SSID
* WPA Passphrase
* Confirm Passphrase

5.A series of commands will run – the end result will be Configuration complete, device rebooted. Configuration application will close. Select Ok

6.Unplug the microPOD from the USB cable and Plug the tool in to a supported vehicle to test
7.Launch wiTECH application – verify that the device is seen in discovery

SUCCESS! Everything worked.
I was able to program the second key to my Jeep. You are amazing and I cannot thank you enough. Here is what I did on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler:
Situation: My Jeep came with only ONE key and I wanted a second key.
You must have Witech 16.05.15 or older installed. Witech 17 gave me errors about requiring Witech 2.0.
First try: (Failed, did not work)
Step 1) No key in the ignition, plugged in wiTECH Micropod 2 to OBDII port.
Step 2) Connected Micropod 2 to laptop via USB cable.
Step 3) Opened Witech and it asked me to identify my Jeep and enter my VIN.
FAILED at this point. It required internet connection to validate the VIN and asked me to log into Dealer CONNECT or Tech Authority.
Second try (SUCCESS!!)
Step 1) No key in the ignition, plugged in Micropod 2 to OBDII port.
Step 2) Put my single good key in the ignition and put it to the RUN position.
Step 3) Connected Micropod 2 to laptop via USB cable.
Step 4) Opened Witech and left it offline.
Step 5) Opened WCM, then Misc. Functions, then Program FOBIK
Step 6) Entered my dealer supplied PIN.
Step 7) Removed old key and inserted new key.
Step 8) Be happy I now have two working keys to my Jeep.

When delivered the GS911 WiFi is well presented in a nifty travel pack with the GS911, a USB cable for MAC/PC connection and an instruction sheet as well as some decals. The first step is to log onto the Hexcode web site and download the WiFi Utility for either Windows or MAC which enables registration of the unit, update to the latest firmware, connection of the GS911 to your home WiFi Network and launching a web browser to access the web interface of the GS911.

Connection of a new device to a network can be challenging at times but the Hexcode WiFi Utility makes the process easier than any other device I have seen. The GS-911 Android utility is available from the Google Play Store.

In operation the new WiFi is child’s play. The WiFi can be either connected to your home WiFi network or connect direct direct to a mobile or tablet in adhoc mode then browse the menus. Up to 10 WiFi networks can be stored in the unit and automatically connect when the networks come into range. Selection of network is done with a push button on the end of the unit with LEDs to indicate when connection is successful.

The ability to auto connect has been the joy of the device for this writer in setting up logging from the comfort of the home PC before heading out for ride then downloading the data sitting at the home PC with a cup of coffee in hand on return.

Hexcode have kept the web interface to a minimalist design to ensure it is fast and responsive. From the main menu an autoscan will determine the model of the vehicle and return all of the information on each of the ECU’s fitted. OBD2 Scanner can then be emailed for future reference. Individual ECU functionality is selected from the Series menu in line with the traditional PC application.

How to connect the GS-911 interface to your BMW motorcycle

Once your PC software and USB driver are successfully installed and tested, you are ready

to use your GS-911. Here is how to connect it to your motorcycle.

1.Locate the diagnostic connector.

2.Make sure your interface is the correct side up and the connector ring twisted as far

left as possible.  Make sure the ignition is OFF at this point and the USB cable

preferably not connected to the GS-911 at www.cnautotool.com interface at this point.

3.Align the receptacle correctly (with the red tab at the bottom), and insert.

4.Finally, twist the connector ring as far right as possible, to lock it in place.

5.Connect the USB cable, if using USB.

The procedure to disconnect, is the reverse of the above steps.
